source

1. Sweet Potato Soup. I made this soup this week. I was a little nervous I wasn't going to like it but it taste great and fills me up. This time I made it will whipping cream, next time I'm going to try to make it with the fat from coconut milk.

2. Christmas tree. I can't wait to get my Christmas tree. I'm hoping to have one up by next weekend so I can have it open up and put the lights on so it can be decorated on Thanksgiving.

3. Cracker Jack'D. I found this at Walgreens, cost about $1.50-$2.00. If you like Chocolate and PB as much as I do you will like these.

4. Boots! Time to break out the boots and strut your stuff.

5. Black Friday. I can't wait to start shopping for Christmas. I have been saving and I am super excited. This will only be my second year for Black Friday shopping since I have been working retail for too long.

5 on Friday - October 4th

the good life blog

The new fall show have started and even though I don't have cable I have been able to watch some of the show through Hulu and CBS.com. Here are 5 new shows that made me laugh:

Mom
1. Mom on CBS Mondays 9:30/8:30c
I love a show about a dysfunctional family. It makes mine seem more normal. It is actually two episodes in and there is a lot of drama. I just hope this show doesn't get too crazy too soon, and then it will be struggling for a plot.
The Goldbergs

2. The Goldbers ABC Tues. 9/8c
A comedy about a family in the 80's. I love remembering some of the things from my childhood, and this show is full of great actors/actresses. It seems to be based on someones passed and has included some real home videos at the end.
Super Fun Night
3. Super Fun Night ABC Wed 9:30/8:30C
Rebel Wilson has played some great parts in movies and now she has a new show. She is looking to have fun along with 3 friends and they draw out a new place each week. My favorite quote: "Let me just email you the address and a photo of me five years ago when I was at my physical peak." This show had a lot of I can't believe she did that/said that moments.
The Millers
4. The Millers CBS Thur 8:30/7:30c
"THE MILLERS stars Will Arnett as Nathan Miller, a recently divorced local roving news reporter looking forward to living the singles life until his parents' marital problems unexpectedly derail his plans." I can't wait to see how this show progresses. The parents are hilarious, I just hope they don't take away my free full episodes on the web.
Sean Saves the World
5. Sean Saves the World Thurs 9/8c
This one also has some awesome talent, Thomas Lennon as the hated boss, and Linda Lavin as Sean's mom. I love the back and forth of Sean and his Mom. I watched this and Welcome to the Family, and I thought this was a better show. I still like Welcome to the Family but it didn't make me laugh, but has a good story.

What new shows are you watching this Fall?

Five on Friday- Sept 27th

1. Today is a family lunch at my daughter's school. My husband doesn't think this is a good idea since there will be some kids whose family won't be able to attend since they work. I see where he is coming from, and it is the reason why I try to attend as many things for my kids. I always wanted my parents there for field trips and shows, but most of the time they weren't there.

2. I attended a meeting at my daughter's school about the Gifted program. I had no idea the school even had one, which I guess is to say my daughter isn't gifted. I feel a little jealous because my sister has two kids who are in a few different TAG programs. I'm trying not to sweat it though, because if I make it a big deal it will be a big deal to my daughter. I think she is smart, but they focus on math and reading which she is good at, but she HATES math. She loves to read but she likes to read at grade level and there is nothing wrong with that. I thing she should be in a gifted art program, but if they don't see it that is their problem.

3. I have mixed feelings about updating my iphone to ios7. My phone seems to die quicker and my Shopkick app isn't working too great! What is up with the disconnecting network? Apple or Verizon's fault? Whoever, someone needs to fix this! {end rant} I do like apple radio when it works, plus now your folders can have pages so now I have everything on one screen withing folders. It's the little things in life people.

4. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 is out today and my hubby has been wanting to take the fam to a movie but we didn't heart Smurfs 1 and I didn't want to see Planes. (We did want to see Turbo but never did.)

5. I have to leave this on a sad note. Yesterday there was a tragic accident with a motorcycle, and a young father died. He left behind two children around my kids ages and it breaks my heart. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Sept 20th - 5 on Friday

The Good Life Blog 5 on Friday
I decided since I'm lacking inspiration for a good post I would do the 5 on Friday for the first time. My 5 on Friday will be 5 things from my week:

1. No School.......Due to storms my son had no school today. It threw me for a loop but he was able to stay at daycare all day. I'm grateful that he doesn't go to before/after care at school because they weren't open either due to power outage at the school. Now I need to take this as motivation to stock supplies in case this happens at our house!

2. Feeling congested.....Since I went on a field trip last Thursday at a State Park I have had a stuffy/runny nose and a cough. I am so ready to be done with it! I've tried sinus medicine, hot tea, running it off, and taking it easy but it doesn't seem to go away.

3. Boys Scouts..... My son joined as a Tiger and it is 6 times more expensive then the Girl Scouts. I hope he enjoys this for all the money we are spending. I'm looking forward to being part of this group but I still feel like an outsider at this point.

4.Favorite Pin of the week:
source: ZippyCart
I hate all the candy that can come with holidays, kicking it off is Halloween so why not reinvent healthy foods.

5.  Mother Daughter 5K
My daughter and I finish our first 5k together and it was my best time yet. We didn't win any age awards but my daughter was awesome for doing her first race and only having about 3-4 weeks to train.
